Twins Bringing Schools Together In partnership
across Sri Lanka

How should you send donations?

All donations should be made by cheque payable to ‘Children in Crisis’, endorsed on the back for ‘Twins’, sent to Twins, c/o Children in Crisis, 206-208 Stewart's Road, London SW8 4UB for the attention of Caroline Barnes and accompanied by a Donation Docket.

If you do not accompany your donation with a Donation Docket, funds may not be spent specifically on your twin school.

Is tax relief available?

‘Gift Aid’ tax relief can be claimed where cheques are sent by UK tax paying individuals.  If you are able to do so, sending donations in the form of such a private cheque will significantly increase your donation.  Please ensure that there is a Gift Aid Declaration, completed by the donor, for every cheque to which Gift Aid should be applied (Where an enduring Gift Aid Declaration Form has already been provided, please send a photocopy).

We cannot claim Gift Aid if you do not provide a Gift Aid Declaration Form.

What sort of fundraising might your school do?

A little goes a long way, so fund raising at all levels will help and any money that your school raises will go directly to helping your twinned school and its immediate community.

The way in which you raise funds will depend on the imagination and initiative of your Twins Committee. Some suggestions might include sponsored walking, running, cycling (or teacher beard shaving!), dress down days, private hire of school facilities, amateur dramatics productions, collections at sports matches and other events, jumble/car boot sales, discos, PTA events and straight forward appeal funds. Parents should definitely be involved and local businesses can be asked to help too.

What about non-cash donations?

Non-cash donations, such as books, clothes, equipment etc, can be a great way to help, although obviously getting such aid to the local communities in Sri Lanka can be complicated. Financial donations are therefore preferred at the moment, as they can be swiftly and easily translated into benefit on the ground.
